Development Officer role for Our Community project until March 2025

New Development Officer for Our Community project!

Meet the new Development Officer for the Our Community project - Christine Menhennet.

Christine is an amazingly dynamic and experienced resident of Kilcreggan.

She started her career as a professional Landscape Architect working on both public and private realm projects, mainly in and around Glasgow, with a wide range of community groups and clients. After seventeen years as a Landscape Architect, she was asked by her then-employer The Wise Group, to join their Development Section where she helped the organisation to source new clients, new projects and new sources of funding.

She retired 5 years ago from a community development organisation called Community Links Scotland (CLS) based in Clydebank. During her years with CLS, she worked on many aspects of community development including consultation, project feasibility, project development, funding applications, capacity building, community ownership, employability and training. Prior to joining CLS, she had spent two years as Employability Manager for Argyll and Bute Council. She was covering the whole of Argyll and Bute including the islands and during this time. On her experience with the A+B council, she says, “My understanding of life in rural communities and the issues faced by them, increased many-fold.”

She moved to Kilcreggan in 2021 with her partner. Since then, she joined the line dance class and the Peninsula Choir – for whom she has already procured some funding!

In her role of Community Development Officer, she will assist with supporting local organisations and residents to identify issues, needs and solutions to improve the sustainability of the area. This will include working with the many volunteer working groups now existing, to develop well founded projects with policy fit, good partners and the potential for funding. She will also be involved with communications and social media planning, updating websites and noticeboards and finally, liaising with external consultants and advisors.

Christine’s tenure as Our Community Development Officer began on July 1st, 2024 and will continue until March 31st, 2025.
