Clearwater Group

The Clearwater Group has its mission to safeguard the waters of the Rosneath Peninsula to promote sustainable practices and ensure clean, safe water for all.

Improving water quality in and around our area!

Activities

  • Sewage Initiative

We are dedicated to enhancing sewage treatment quality with Scottish Water and educating homeowners on individual treatment options, including benefits and costs. Our efforts also focus on securing community grants for system upgrades and advocating for stringent environmental standards in local development plans.

  • Ensuring Water Quality Monitoring

Committed to safeguarding our water's health, we will monitor quality levels, focusing on threats from microplastics, sewage, and radioactive waste. Collaborating with experts from the Scottish Association of Marine Science in Oban will enrich our monitoring techniques and pollution mitigation strategies.

  • Establishing Marine Protection Areas

Our efforts will focus on advocating for the creation of marine protection areas and promoting sustainable fishing practices in key coastal areas to safeguard sensitive ecosystems and marine habitats.(space)We also aim to explore potential collaborations, such as joining the Our Seas campaign, to amplify our impact and further our conservation goals. Partnering with initiatives like the Scottish Government's Seagrass project could amplify our conservation efforts.

  • Fostering Cultural Connection to Water

By promoting water sports and arts festivals that highlight our aquatic heritage, we aim to strengthen our community's bond to our waterways. Partnerships with local arts groups help reintegrate the water's cultural significance into our daily lives.

  • Enhancing Water Transport

We support the development of water transport links to neighboring communities like Blairmore, Helensburgh, and Greenock, boosting local commerce and cultural exchange. This initiative aims to rejuvenate our water-locked area and enhance connectivity.
