Arts Group

To foster and create a vibrant arts programme and ecosystem that will promote cultural exchange, enhance community well-being, and drive economic development.

There are many groups, clubs and organisations that already contribute to the cultural life of the  peninsula such as the Cove Burgh Hall Library, the Crafters Club, the Cove Park, Youth Cafe and  the Peninsula Choir and offer plenty of potential opportunities for collaborations.

Supporting the arts in the area: festivals, open studios and more!

Activities

  • A community arts programme in Cove & Kilcreggan villages to enrich the cultural landscape of our community including music, dance, visual arts, literature, performing arts, crafts, and storytelling. It would engage local residents & visitors through diverse programming, outreach efforts, and marketing initiatives to foster a vibrant arts ecosystem making our community a vibrant, inclusive and healthy place to live and visit.

Working towards a long-term goal of Artists Studios, program of residencies, amphitheatre and bi-annual arts event.

  • Creating links with neighbouring communities such as Helensburgh, Paisley, Gourock, Greenock, Dunoon, and the Isle of Bute through promoting collaboration, cultural exchange, knowledge-share and mutual support during cultural events, institutions, and festivals.

Working towards a Makers Market/Christmas Market and Reinstatement of Sea Change Festival. A core goal to promote the arts as a driver will be to engage with local and tourist audiences.

  • To improve both community and individual mental health by harnessing the therapeutic benefits of artistic expression and providing accessible avenues for creative self-care.

Working towards a Community Dye/Art/Plant/Fibre Garden.

  • Engaging young people in the arts: outreach, education, engagements with schools. Mentorship programs for nurturing the next generation of artists, audiences, and cultural leaders. Working towards trainee & apprenticeships.

  • Representation of artists: This would play a key role in fostering experimentation, inclusivity, diversity, and equality in our cultural initiatives and policies.
